Greater Victoria Crime Stoppers
Greater Victoria Crime Stoppers is a community, media and police cooperative program, designed to involve the public in the fight against crime. They are located in Victoria, the capital city of British Columbia, Canada, on beautiful Vancouver Island.
Problem: An outdated website requiring outside assistance to update content whenever it changed.
Solution: We worked with their staff to identify the challenges they faced with managing their web presence. Out of this came a better web site layout. As well, we developed an administrative interface providing staff an easy means to update content and manage web site features.

This division of the JI offers a number of courses related to managing emergencies.
'Successful communities and agencies responsible for emergency planning need to have developed their people to the extent that the crisis can be managed effectively. Those affected by the crisis will be reliant on this group of knowledgeable professionals for leadership and direction during these highly stressful events.'

The Vancouver Police Traffic Authority Program has over 80 sworn Special Municipal Constables who assist the Vancouver Police Department with traffic and pedestrian control functions at special events in the City of Vancouver.
Problem: Quickly identify and assign available part-time staff to traffic control duties within the City of Vancouver.

Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police Conference - 2004
From August 22nd - 25th, 2004, more than 300 police chiefs and other police executives from across Canada gathered in Vancouver for the 99th annual Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police (CACP) conference hosted by the Vancouver Police Department and E Division RCMP. This week-long event required the management of over 350 volunteers.
Problem: Professionally manage over 350 volunteers at a large one week public event, with dignitaries in attendance. Identify and assign staff based on their people skills and knowledge of Vancouver. Example: public relations, hosts, site security, drivers(airport transportation), etc.

Volunteer Coordinators Phill & Sandi LeQuesne had this to say ...
"During the CACP (Chiefs Conference) we used Easy Schedule to register and keep track of 350 volunteers. Months before the week long convention, volunteers signed on to Easy Schedule, with their areas of interest, availability and shirt size. From this we were able to assign them to positions, along with their friends, and as the conference was in motion, we were able to receive updates when volunteers were unable to attend due to illness. Of all the volunteers, only one did not have e-mail, and her friend received the notifications and updates for her. The program allowed us to keep in touch with all the volunteers through newsletters on a regular basis and I would recommend this program to anyone looking to keep an event well organized."
